Gala concert of Union State held at Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk
A warm and friendly atmosphere has become something of signature trait of the festival.
The concert invited the audience on a music journey to different parts of the Union State. As State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev noted, the forum is a great way to promote mutual cultural enrichment. He presented diplomas and prizes of the Standing Committee of the Union State. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko was among the attendees of the gala concert.
Among those awarded diplomas was the legendary composer Alexander Zatsepin. The 98-year-old People's Artist of Russia told journalists that he was very pleased to come to the festival and hear a medley of his songs at the Vitebsk stage, including “There is only a moment”, “I am looking for you”, “You will be mine”, “Song about the Sultan”, “This world was not invented by me”. Several generations grew up listening to these songs.
Slavianski Bazaar continues to be a people's festival. Belarus and Russia have the same spirit, similar culture and worldviews. The concept of the gala concert was meant to highlight several important themes. They include the 25th anniversary of the Union State Treaty, the 80th anniversary of Belarus' liberation from the Nazi invaders, the 110th anniversary of the People's Artist of the USSR, a native of Vitebsk, composer Mark Fradkin and, of course, the 1,050th anniversary of Vitebsk.
Honored Artists and People's Artists of Belarus and Russia, popular singers, performers, dancers took to the main stage of the festival. The audience warmly welcomed Alexander Zatsepin, Askar Abdrazakov, the Samotsvety ensemble, Mikhail Turetsky and the art group Turetsky Choir. Viktoria Aleshko, whose new album was released the other day at the festival, was greeted just as warmly as Arseny Borodin and others.
“I love Belarus and Belarusian audience, and I have a lot of friends from here. The Slavianski Bazaar festival is a celebration of music. I am always happy to accept invitations to come to Belarus to sing. Recently I have given a solo concert in Minsk and I was so happy about it! And I come to the Slavianski Bazaar festival every year. This is a legendary festival with a special vibe, it is different from other festivals, it has a very cordial atmosphere,” Honored Artist of Russia Zara said.
